El Oelemars es una gran excavación de extracción de arena donde todavía se extrae arena. Consiste en gran parte en un charco excavado a una profundidad de 15 metros. La extracción de arena se encuentra en la zona de De Zandbergen-Oelemars, una reserva agrícola, recreativa y natural entre Losser y la frontera alemana. Originalmente, esta es principalmente un pantano y páramo. El nombre Oelemars significa 'pantano en el que ocurren búhos'. El municipio de Losser ha desarrollado una visión para el futuro de toda la zona.
