Les Oelemars sont une grande extraction de sable où le sable est encore extrait. Elle se compose principalement d'un étang excavé à une profondeur de 15 mètres. L'extraction de sable est située dans la région De Zandbergen-Oelemars, une réserve agricole, récréative et naturelle entre Losser et la frontière allemande. À l'origine, il s'agissait principalement d'un marais et d'une lande. Le nom Oelemars signifie 'marais où se trouvent des hiboux'. La municipalité de Losser a développé une vision pour l'avenir de l'ensemble de la région.
