En 1350, la antigua Naarden fue reducida a cenizas durante las luchas de los Hoeksen y los Kabeljauwen. En el paisaje actual, esta ciudad se situaba aproximadamente a 2 km al noreste de la ciudad actual, ahora en el Gooimeer.
