La antigua fábrica de blanco de zinc de Eijsden ha sido históricamente el mayor empleador de Eijsden. La fábrica de blanco de zinc fue fundada en 1870 por el ingeniero belga George Rocour y comenzó su producción en enero de 1871. El blanco de zinc es un pigmento blanco que se utiliza, entre otras cosas, en la industria de pinturas y en la industria del caucho. Actualmente, aquí se encuentran las fábricas Ineos Silica y Umicore.
También se encuentra aquí el edificio de oficinas en un estilo arquitectónico tradicional, que fue construido en 1928 por encargo de la Nederlandsche Zinkwit Maatschappij según un diseño de los arquitectos V.F. Marres y W.J. Sandhövel de Maastricht.
