El Fuerte Henricus fue un fuerte construido en 1626 para la defensa del puerto de Steenbergen. El fuerte fue edificado según un diseño de David van Orliens, parcialmente en el polder de Graaf Hendrik y parcialmente en los marismas y lodazales que más tarde (en 1649 y 1788) fueron drenados como los polder de Oude y Nieuwe Vliet. El fuerte tiene cinco bastiones y un foso húmedo con una contracara. En 1809, el fuerte fue puesto en estado de alerta por última vez, debido a la posible invasión británica en Zelanda. En 1816, el fuerte quedó fuera de uso. En 1827, el terreno del fuerte fue vendido a un particular para fines agrícolas. El fuerte pertenecía a la Línea de Agua de Brabante Occidental.
En 2008 se inició la restauración parcial del fuerte. Es propiedad de Natuurmonumenten.
