Origen
En Boomdijk en Halsteren se encuentran cuatro refugios de hormigón de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Formaban parte del punto de apoyo de infantería en el camino hacia Tholen y eran parte de la Línea Norte de Brabant. Esta línea fue construida durante la Primera Guerra Mundial para defender la neutralidad holandesa en caso de una invasión francesa/británica en Zelanda. Según el estado mayor holandés, el Brabantse Wal ofrecía buenas oportunidades para resistir una invasión.
Reubicación
A principios de 2014, dos de los refugios fueron trasladados al borde de la carretera para eliminar las molestias que los propietarios de terrenos sufrían en su trabajo.
