Origine
Sur la Boomdijk à Halsteren se trouvent quatre abris en béton de la Première Guerre mondiale. Ils faisaient partie du poste de soutien d'infanterie sur la route vers Tholen et faisaient partie de la Position West Brabant. Cette position a été établie pendant la Première Guerre mondiale pour défendre la neutralité néerlandaise en cas d'invasion franco-britannique en Zélande. Selon l'état-major néerlandais, la Brabantse Wal offrait de bonnes possibilités pour accueillir une invasion.
Déplacement
Début 2014, deux des abris ont été déplacés vers le bord de la route afin de réduire les nuisances rencontrées par les propriétaires fonciers dans leur travail.

Derrière Tholenseweg 16, un panneau d'information a été placé sur la Boomdijk.
