La estación Terneuzen fue, del 1 de abril de 1869 al 7 de octubre de 1951, una estación en el extremo de las líneas ferroviarias 54 y 55. La primera línea ferroviaria ha sido en su mayor parte desmantelada, la otra se utiliza únicamente para el transporte de mercancías de las empresas a lo largo del Canal de Gante-Terneuzen. Zeeuws-Vlaanderen nunca se habría convertido en el Zeeuws-Vlaanderen de hoy sin los ferrocarriles y los tranvías. El ferrocarril - las líneas Malinas - Terneuzen, Gante - Terneuzen, el tranvía de vapor Breskens - Maldegem y la Compañía de Tranvías Zeeuwsch-Vlaamsche - facilitaron la apertura de la región.
