Le canal vers Beverlo devait relier le canal Bocholt-Herentals au camp de Beverlo, mais le canal s'arrête près du centre de Leopoldsburg. Le canal de 15 kilomètres a été creusé entre 1857 et 1859, mais n'a donc pas atteint une distance suffisante. Le canal n’est d'importance que pour le tourisme : la récréation aquatique prospère et les amateurs de vélo profitent de la nature le long de la pittoresque rive.
