Concernant le développement futur du site historique de Le Grognon, plusieurs plans ont déjà été élaborés et abandonnés. Ainsi, un nouveau bâtiment du parlement wallon devait être construit ici, en partie ancré dans l'eau. Après un concours, le projet de l'architecte italien de renom Mario Botta a été désigné comme le vainqueur. Mais une majorité conservatrice n'a pas apprécié ce navire en briques, ou 'le Batteau de Botta', et a voté contre.
