Description

L'aulne noir (Alnus glutinosa) pousse bien dans des endroits assez humides. La feuille est inversée ovalisée, brillante et d'un vert foncé. Les fruits s'appellent des morceaux d'aulne et restent accrochés à l'arbre tout l'hiver.

Le bois a été utilisé pour fabriquer des poteaux de pont et des portes de sluice car il est solide et se conserve longtemps sous l'eau. On fabriquait de la peinture à partir des feuilles, des fruits et de l'écorce.
