Durant la Première Guerre mondiale, le Saillant d’Ypres (ou Ypres Salient) était une importante ligne de front. Comme son nom l’indique, il s’agissait d’une saillie dans le front occidental qui était aussi un morceau de terrain allié dans le territoire occupé par les Allemands. Un réseau de sentiers pédestres et/ou les routes cyclables vous feront découvrir le paysage vallonné des Saillants d’Ypres. Chemin faisant, les divers monuments et les nombreux cimetières rappellent qu’une guerre sanglante a fait rage dans cette région voici près de 100 ans.
