Il s'agit d'un monument en l'honneur du roi Albert Ier, commandant en chef de l'armée belge pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, et des Fire Crossers . Ce titre était décerné aux vétérans qui avaient combattu "sous le feu" au front.

Cet endroit était autrefois un parc avec un kiosque, magnifiquement situé sur la Meuse. Ce dernier est bien sûr toujours le cas, car vous ne pouvez pas simplement déplacer la Maas.
