Ces huit maisons, construites selon un schéma d'image miroir , sont situées dans la Predikherenstraat à Wingene. Ils ont été construits en 1928 pour les employés du centre radio associé du service Radio Maritime Services.
Le 13 décembre 1923 , le roi Albert Ier pose la première pierre de la station émettrice.
La première liaison radio-télégraphique, Bruxelles-New York , est inaugurée le 3 octobre 1927 ; les premiers messages avec le panneau routier "via BELRADIO" ont atteint l'Amérique directement, le long d'une route belge.
