Cette murale raconte l'histoire du quartier local. David Duits a coloré un mur entier dans cette ruelle*.
Le café local, en référence à la brasserie Omer Vander Ghinste, était alors le point central. Le bâtiment voisin qui servait de caserne de pompiers est intégré dans l'image de cette cité. Ce grand bâtiment avec la tour des pompiers a été rénové par la ville de Courtrai et abrite aujourd'hui la Deelfabriek.
L'histoire remonte ici à 1875, lorsqu'un ancien lotissement de 10 maisons ouvrières a été érigé sous le nom de "cité des Vuylstekens" par le commanditaire Albert Vuylsteke.
*Cette ruelle relie la piste cyclable qui longe la voie ferrée à la rue Saint-Antoine.
