Il caffè locale, con riferimento alla Birreria Omer Vander Ghinste, era all'epoca il punto centrale. L'edificio vicino, che fungeva da caserma dei pompiere, è stato integrato nell'immagine di questa cité. Questo grande edificio con torre dei pompieri è stato ristrutturato dalla Città di Kortrijk e ospita l'attuale Deelfabriek.
La storia risale al 1875, quando un ex cortile di 10 case per lavoratori fu eretto con il nome di "Vuylstekens cité" dal committente Albert Vuylsteke.
*Questo vicolo collega la pista ciclabile che corre lungo i binari con la Sint-Antoniusstraat.
