Le monument Horst-Wessel était un mémorial honorifique pour le chef de la SA Horst Wessel, tué à Berlin en 1930. Les restes de l'ancien monument se trouvent dans le Süntel, à environ 700 mètres à vol d'oiseau au nord du quartier de Welliehausen à Hamelin, en Basse-Saxe. Sa construction a été planifiée à partir de 1933 et réalisée jusqu'en 1938 dans l'environnement d'anciennes carrières de pierre, à environ 370 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Avec sa construction, une référence visuelle sur 12 kilomètres a été établie vers le Bückeberg, situé au sud, où se sont tenues les fêtes du remercîment de la récolte du Reich de 1933 à 1937.
