The Horst Wessel Memorial was a memorial for the SA Storm Leader Horst Wessel, who was killed in Berlin in 1930. The remnants of the former memorial are located in the Süntel, approximately 700 meters in a straight line north of the district of Welliehausen in Hamelin, Lower Saxony. It was planned starting in 1933 and built by 1938 in the surroundings of former quarries at an altitude of about 370 meters above sea level. With its construction, a visual reference was established over 12 kilometers to the Bückeberg located to the south, where the Reich Harvest Festivals took place from 1933 to 1937.
