En été 1858, la mère de Nietzsche, Franziska Nietzsche, a déménagé avec ses deux enfants, Friedrich et Elisabeth, dans la maison n° 355, aujourd'hui Weingarten 18. Elle avait loué un appartement clair et plus spacieux à l'étage. En 1878, elle a acheté la maison et y est restée jusqu'à la fin de sa vie. Après sa mort en 1897, la maison a été vendue par sa fille.
Depuis 1994, la maison Nietzsche de Naumbourg est ouverte au public. Une exposition permanente documente la vie et l'œuvre du philosophe, tandis que la bibliothèque de la maison, installée dans les salles d'exposition, offre aux visiteurs l'occasion de se familiariser avec l'œuvre de Nietzsche.
