La colline de calcaire est un monticule de gypse dans la zone ouest de la ville de Lüneburg. Elle est classée comme une singularité naturelle du bassin de Lüneburg et constitue ainsi un espace naturel de type insulaire.
Jusqu'en février 1371, un château se dressait sur la colline de calcaire, à partir duquel le duché de Lüneburg-Braunschweig était gouverné. Dans le cadre de la guerre de succession de Lüneburg, le château du souverain sur la colline de calcaire a été détruit tout comme le monastère bénédictin voisin de Saint-Michel, qui a ensuite déménagé en ville.
