Jusqu’en 2003, Friedersdorf était une commune indépendante du Brandebourg, au sud-est de Berlin, dans le district de Dahme-Spreewald. Depuis lors, c’est un quartier de la municipalité de Heidesee.
Friedersdorf est situé à environ 25 km au sud-est des limites de la ville de Berlin, à environ 15 km à l’est de Königs Wusterhausen et à 60 km à l’ouest de Francfort. Friedersdorf se trouve directement à l’ouest de la frontière entre les districts de Dahme-Spreewald et Oder-Spree. À proximité se trouvent quelques réserves naturelles telles que le fossé de tourbe de Skaby, le canal de Storkow et les montagnes Swatzke et Skaby. À l’est et au sud de Friedersdorf s’étend le parc naturel de Dahme-Heideseen.
