La ruine du château de Güntersburg se situe au sud-ouest de la ville de Güntersberge, quartier de la ville de Harzgerode dans le district de Harz en Saxe-Anhalt, dans les montagnes de Harz.
La ruine se trouve au sud du Kohlberg dans la vallée de la Selke. L'installation très vaste, d'environ 3 ha, est probablement une colonie fortifiée avec un château. Au nord-ouest, elle était protégée par une palissade et un fossé de 150 m de long, dont les dimensions sont encore bien visibles aujourd'hui. Au sud-est, l'installation est délimitée par la pente abrupte qui descend dans la vallée de la Selke.
