De ruïne van Güntersburg ligt ten zuidwesten van de stad Güntersberge, een deelgemeente van de stad Harzgerode in de Landkreis Harz in Saksen-Anhalt in het middelgebergte Harz.
De ruïne bevindt zich ten zuiden van de Kohlberg in het Selketal. Bij het met ongeveer 3 ha zeer grote complex gaat het vermoedelijk om een versterkte nederzetting met een kasteel. Aan de noordwestzijde was het complex beveiligd door een wal en een 150 meter lange greppel, waarvan de afmetingen tot op de dag van vandaag goed te zien zijn. Ten zuidoosten wordt het complex begrensd door de steil naar het Selketal aflopende helling.
