Dans la commune d'Eggenstedt, au nord de la Börde de Magdebourg, se trouve la source de l'Aller la plus au sud. Près d'Eggenstedt, le massif boisé du Hohes Holz atteint 209 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer au Edelberg. La ville d'Oschersleben est à environ 10 km, la capitale régionale Magdebourg à environ 30 km d'Eggenstedt.
Le 1er janvier 2010, les communes jusqu'alors autonomes d'Eggenstedt, Bottmersdorf, Domersleben, Dreileben, Groß Rodensleben, Hohendodeleben, Klein Rodensleben ainsi que les villes de Seehausen et Wanzleben se sont réunies pour former la nouvelle ville de Wanzleben-Börde.
