Nella località di Eggenstedt, nel nord della Bassa Sassonia, si trova la sorgente più a sud dell'Aller. In prossimità di Eggenstedt, la catena montuosa boschiva Hohes Holz raggiunge i 209 m s.l.m. nella zona di Edelberg. La città di Oschersleben dista circa 10 km, mentre la capitale dello stato Magdeburgo si trova a circa 30 km da Eggenstedt.
Il 1° gennaio 2010, i comuni autonomi di Eggenstedt, Bottmersdorf, Domersleben, Dreileben, Groß Rodensleben, Hohendodeleben, Klein Rodensleben, così come le città di Seehausen e Wanzleben, si unirono per formare la nuova città di Wanzleben-Börde.
