L'Aiguille de Cléopâtre, connue sous le nom d'"Obélisque", se trouve au centre de la Place de la Concorde et appartenait à l'origine à l'entrée du temple de Louxor. Mohamed Ali, le vice-roi qui a également fourni une obélisque à l'Angleterre, a offert cette Aiguille de Cléopâtre à Paris en échange d'un petit clocher, qui devait être installé dans la citadelle du Caire (et qui s'est avéré non fonctionnel).
