En 1866, la chapelle Notre Dame de Confiance est construite à Baerenthal pour la petite minorité catholique du village et dédiée à l'Immaculée Conception. De style néogothique, elle abrite une statue de la Vierge à l'Enfant. Elle traversera sans trop de dommages les trois guerres franco-allemandes et restera discrète jusqu'à ce 18 mai 1960 qui marque l'ouverture du pèlerinage "Notre Dame de confiance".
La chapelle Notre Dame de Confiance se trouve sur le petit parcours patrimonial (3,7 km) du village de Baerenthal, "Au grès du chemin... notre histoire".
