Il perpétue la mission qui fut celle du Centre de la Résistance, de la Déportation et de la Mémoire en Loir-et-Cher depuis le 8 mai 1995. Fondé en cette date du cinquantième anniversaire de la capitulation nazie et à l’initiative d’anciens résistants et déportés du Loir-et-Cher, celui-ci avait pour vocation de conserver la mémoire des années sombres qui ont vu la défaite de la France et son occupation.
