L'apparition de la chapelle, bijou gothique du 13ème siècle autour duquel une légende rampe, est encore énigmatique... Une énigme que beaucoup d'historiens et savants ont tenté de résoudre. Le bâtiment a souvent changé au cours du temps. Depuis 2007, la chapelle qui se trouve sur le chemin de pèlerin Saint Jacques de Compostelle appartient au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
Les visiteurs sont accueillis par les sœurs vivant sur place.
