Le village typique de Puymirol domine la campagne vallonnée sur son éperon rocheux. Le sentier de randonnée propose de traverser ces paysages qui alternent entre sous-bois, plaines cultivées et coteaux secs.
On y observera l'avifaune typique de ce milieu agricole : moineau soulcie, bruant zizi, alouette lulu, tourterelle des bois.
Le coteaux de Saint Urcisse au Sud-est de Puymirol présente aussi un biotope intéressant et accueille l'engoulevent d'Europe, à rechercher au crépuscule des nuits de printemps.
