Construite par l’architecte diocésain à la fin du XIXe siècle, l’église Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais présente une architecture sobre. Sa façade ouest est la plus travaillée réunissant le portail d’entrée, une baie ternée, un oculus, une niche renfermant une Vierge polychrome ainsi qu’un clocher flèche.
L’intérieur de l’édifice abrite de beaux objets comme la bannière de procession à l’effigie des deux saints patrons de l’église mais également un tableau inscrit au titre des Monuments Historiques La Vierge donnant le rosaire à saint Dominique peint en 1849 par un artiste mendois Laget.
Ouverte tout au long de l’année, l’église du Chastel-Nouvel se trouve au cœur du vieux-centre du village.
