Le palais de justice, conçu par Sir Richard Morrison dans le style néoclassique et construit en pierre de taille, a été achevé en 1807. Le design comprenait une façade principale symétrique avec sept travées donnant sur la rue principale ; la section centrale présentait un portique tétrastyle avec des colonnes d'ordre dorique soutenant un entablement et un fronton.
