Le temple a été construit au XIVe siècle , à côté de l' énorme monastère des Carmélites de l'époque, construit vers le XIIe siècle. Après les premières interventions en 1514, l'église fut entièrement rénovée en 1633. Le monastère fut rénové à plusieurs reprises jusqu'à sa démolition en 1905 pour construire une école.
L'église est un bel exemple d' art baroque avec deux entrées : la première se trouve dans la façade principale, reconstruite au XIXe siècle ; le second est un élégant portail baroque en pierre de belle conception.
A côté de la façade secondaire se trouve un clocher en pierre du XVIIIe siècle .
