Le célèbre pont, qui est maintenant un symbole de la région, a été construit entre le 20 mars et le 27 juillet 1879 par le maçon Jean-Pierre Prommenschenkel de Christnach en quatre mois. À cette époque, le pont a été construit en chaux à la vapeur et en grès et il est toujours là comme il a été construit à l'époque. La rambarde en bois a été ajoutée un peu plus tard et a été renouvelée plusieurs fois au fil des ans.
