The famous bridge, which is now a symbol of the region, was constructed between March 20 and July 27, 1879 by the stonemason Jean-Pierre Prommenschenkel from Christnach within four months. At that time the bridge was built with steam lime and sandstone and it still stands as it was built then. The wooden railing was added a bit later and has been renewed several times over the years.
