La veille du traité de Maastricht (1991), du vin d'Apostelhoeve a été servi à l'hôtel de ville de l'ancien Mosae Traiectum. L'ancien président français François Mitterand a dû en être très charmé. Des années plus tard, sa veuve a dit lors d'une visite inattendue au domaine que son mari était impressionné par le vin blanc qu'il avait bu à Maastricht. On pourrait envisager une visite du domaine viticole de Mathieu Hulst et de ses fils Gilbert et Robin pour moins que cela.
