L'ancienne église du centre de Valkenburg est petite, romantique et est mentionnée dès le XIIIe siècle. Pendant longtemps (1633-1819), elle a servi d'église simultanée pour les catholiques et les protestants.
De nombreux éléments de style trahissent les nombreuses rénovations : le clocher fait partie des plus anciens éléments et la main du célèbre architecte Pierre Cuypers et de son fils est reconnaissable dans la dernière grande rénovation de 1904. L'église est ouverte à la visite.
