Eckart était une petite seigneurie qui en 1810 fut annexée à la commune de Nederwetten, en 1821 à Woensel, et depuis 1920 fait partie de la commune d'Eindhoven, dans la province néerlandaise du Brabant septentrional. C'est maintenant un quartier qui se situe dans le quartier de Dommelbeemd.
À l'origine, Eckart était une île, délimitée par la Dommel et un ancien lit de cette rivière, appelé la Dode Gracht, précédemment nommé Den Doyen Graeff. Dans cette île, on peut rencontrer les toponymes suivants :
