Hagestein est un village dans les Vijfheerenlanden au bord de la Lek, faisant partie de la commune de Vijfheerenlanden dans la province néerlandaise d'Utrecht depuis 2019. Hagestein possède une église Réformée, une école primaire et un ancien hôtel de ville.
Avant la construction du château d'Hagestein, le village s'appelait Gasperde. En 1382, Gasperde a obtenu des droits de ville de Jan V d'Arkel, mais en 1405, il a été complètement démoli. Plus tard, au lieu de Gasperde, le village d'Hagestein est né.
Le 1er janvier 1812, Hagestein a été ajouté à la commune d'Everdingen, pour en être à nouveau séparé le 1er janvier 1818. La commune a été dissoute le 1er janvier 1986 et annexée à Vianen. L'hôtel de ville de la rue du village est identifiable par sa pierre de façade et sa construction de toit particulière.
