Ce passerelle piétonne au-dessus de la Hoenderlaan menant au petit parc du quartier Veller à Barneveld sera nommée d'après le maire Asje van Dijk. La passerelle symbolise le rôle de lien de Van Dijk, une fonction de pont dans la société barneveldoise.
Van Dijk a été maire de Barneveld à partir du 8 décembre 2011. Le 12 juin 2020, il a annoncé son départ en tant que maire de Barneveld. Il est parti le 1er février 2021 et à cette date, il a été remplacé par Jan Luteijn en tant que maire par intérim.
