Sapevi che i 4 "heemskinderen" che sono sul cavallo devono naturalmente essere bambini di Dendermonde. Inoltre, devono essere 4 fratelli nati uno dopo l'altro, senza una sorella tra di loro.
La folclore attorno a questo evento è riconosciuto dall'UNESCO e si trova nella lista del patrimonio mondiale.
