La celebrazione di Sant'Antonio si tiene annualmente la terza domenica di gennaio. La festa popolare è ora riconosciuta come patrimonio immateriale. Viene celebrata in molti luoghi in Fiandre. Ma a Ingooigem la tradizione della celebrazione di Sant'Antonio è ancora molto forte.
Tradizionalmente, i contadini si recavano in chiesa il 17 gennaio, giorno di Sant'Antonio d'Egitto, per venerare il santo e chiedere le sue grazie per proteggere i loro maiali dalla peste e dal cosiddetto 'fuoco freddo'. Quest'ultimo era un'infiammazione spesso mortale alle zampe dei maiali. In occasione della celebrazione, i contadini portavano con sé una testa di maiale. L'inverno era infatti la stagione in cui i maiali venivano macellati, quando non si avevano ancora a disposizione moderne attrezzature di raffreddamento.
