Boirs si trova al confine linguistico nella valle dello Jeker. Il centro del paese si trova a sud della strada da Tongeren a Wezet, che a Beurs ha un collegamento con l'autostrada A13/E313. Anche la linea ferroviaria da Tongeren ad Aquisgrana attraversa la frazione. Fino al 1957 Boirs aveva la sua stazione lungo la linea ferroviaria. Boirs è un villaggio residenziale nella Droog-Haspengouw. L'agricoltura è soprattutto presente sotto forma di coltivazione di cereali. La frazione comprende inoltre il borgo di Once, che si trova a est del centro del paese.
