Boirs is located on the language border in the valley of the Jeker. The village centre is located south of the road from Tongeren to Visé, which has a connection with the A13/E313 motorway in Beurs. The railway line from Tongeren to Aachen also crosses the borough. Until 1957, Boirs had its own station along the railway. Boirs is a residential village in Droog-Haspengouw. Agriculture is mainly present in the form of arable farming. The borough also consists of the hamlet of Once, which is located to the east of the village centre.
