Questa chiesa è considerata la principale chiesa dei gesuiti (1650-1666) del Belgio. È famosa grazie al gesuita di Anversa Guillaume Hesius. L'edificio è stato completamente restaurato. Solo la facciata è sfuggita ai bombardamenti della Seconda Guerra Mondiale nel 1944.
La facciata barocca ornata è descritta come "l'altare all'esterno della chiesa" ed è uno dei Sette Meraviglie di Leuven.
All'interno dominano gli ornamenti scolpiti in tutto lo spazio. L'insieme delle sculture in legno è notevole; tra cui le otto confessioni, collegate tra loro da un'alta boiserie in rovere. Il pulpito in stile Luigi XV proviene dalla cattedrale di San Michele a Bruxelles.
L'altare è decorato con il dipinto "L'Apparizione della Santa Vergine a Tommaso d'Aquino".
La chiesa è ora utilizzata per servizi in lingua spagnola ed è un decor per iniziative artistiche.
