Nella corte del municipio, un palo di esecuzione ricorda le atrocità che si sono svolte qui durante la prima guerra mondiale. Almeno quattro soldati sono stati fucilati qui. Nelle celle di polizia adiacenti, inizialmente venivano rinchiusi soldati che si avventuravano per strada senza permesso, erano ubriachi o erano coinvolti in risse. Dal 1916, le celle furono trasformate in ‘celle della morte’, dove i soldati condannati passavano la loro ultima notte. All'alba, questi soldati trovavano qui la morte per esecuzione (execution by firing squad).
