Non puoi immaginare quanto sia strano, ma De Inslag è stato tutto: da area di brughiera, campi e prati a un prestigioso dominio di castello e scenari di caccia fino a un vero e proprio campo di battaglia durante le guerre mondiali.
Entrambe le guerre mondiali colpirono duramente De Inslag e lasciano fino ad oggi le loro tracce in questo dominio. Durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale si abbatterono gli alberi per aumentare la visibilità intorno alla cintura fortificata di Anversa. 36 anni dopo, la scure tornò a colpire il bosco per fare spazio alle trincee. Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale iniziò la riforestazione. Pini silvestri e larici coprirono rapidamente grandi parti di De Inslag. Nel 1980 il governo fiammingo acquistò De Inslag.
