La ampia circonferenza del tronco di questa specie a crescita lenta suggerisce già una notevole età, forse oltre cento anni. In passato era consuetudine potare il bosso, ma di questa gestione non è rimasto nulla. Il bosso qui è un piccolo alberello con una chioma che cresce liberamente.
