La Hortiflora costituisce una zona distintiva con un'atmosfera unica all'interno dei Kasteelparken. Il lato esterno è una fascia verde piuttosto densa che schermi la zona aperta dall'ambiente circostante. Questa fascia comprende una grande varietà di alberi notevoli. Inizialmente, la Hortiflora era stata allestita come un giardino dimostrativo con diverse tipologie di atmosfere da giardino (giardino roccioso, orto, ...). Nel 1977, in occasione dell'anno di Rubens, il giardino è stato riprogettato nello stile rinascimentale storico. Da allora, il giardino ha assunto sempre più un ruolo educativo. Al momento, si possono trovare oltre 600 specie e varietà di piante. Nel 2012, la Hortiflora è stata aggiunta al parco delle sculture.
