Smissestraat z.nr. Vecchio terrapieno della ferrovia con ponti. La linea ferroviaria Ostenda-Ieper-Armentières è stata costruita tra il 1864 e il 1873 (approvazione parlamentare nell'aprile 1864). Nel 1963 la linea ferroviaria è stata chiusa al trasporto passeggeri, nel 1967 al trasporto merci. Nel 1985 il vecchio tracciato della linea ferroviaria sul territorio di Torhout è stato trasformato nella "Groene 62", un percorso pedonale e ciclabile che dal 1986 viene esteso dall'amministrazione provinciale fino a Ostenda.
